Be Who God Created You To Be...Far More Than You Realize
Lately I've been waking up, thinking, what if today I just exceed who I've been and be the person God wants me to be. Yes, I desire to live for God everyday, but there are areas where I am severely lacking. The areas where I fall short may be different than the areas where you fall short. But I'm afraid the trap we can fall into is becoming blind to these areas.
We have a tendency to put ourselves first without realizing it. We may be great people, but we may only be great people in certain parts of our daily life. Think about it.
Something especially the Holy Spirit has been talking to me about is loving and praying for those closest to me. Seriously friends, the other day the Holy Spirit just really slammed my eyes open. I realized that I haven't been as genuine with my love and honest/consistent with my prayer as I should be.
Truly, I had not realized how selfish I have been. Other people may not see my selfishness and think I'm not acting selfish at all...but what really matters is that you're honest with yourself and you look into your life with open eyes. Yesterday I thanked God for opening my eyes to the truth. I pray that we objectively look at our lives and ask God to show us where we are falling short and pray that the Holy Spirit reveals then convicts so that we may improve as people of God.
I think we may be more self-centered than we realize; this is a blanket statement which I cannot attribute to everyone but I can give you food for thought at least. And like I previously mentioned, I believe a present danger is that we slowly slip into a foggy vision where we are not acting the way God desires for us. This occurs little by little until we become blind to fact. Join me in praying everyday that God opens our eyes to what we need to see, where we need to improve. I want to improve each day and only grow stronger in love. When love drives our thoughts and interactions then we are achieving what our Father desires for us. Love is at the heart of our problem people. Or I suppose I should say a lack of love. We may not realize it; we may not want to accept it. But when love is lacking in any section then we will rot the whole body. Love has to be keeping checks and balances everywhere so that the world can literally see Christ in us.
This is the challenge God gave me and now this is the challenge I give you. Pray that your eyes may be opened and may stay open so you may analyze the facets of your being that is lacking. God gave me a reality check and I am thankful He did. Dear brothers and sisters I pray that the Holy Spirit wakes you up and empowers you do to some house cleaning. Get rid of the Enemy's tricks he uses to lull you into acceptance. As Christians we do not accept the anything other than God's standards. And as Christians we are called to live by His standards. I know through the power of the Holy Spirit, you will be transformed to be a different person. I want to not be recognizable as anything other than the imitation of Jesus Christ. Will you join me friends? How will you improve the present moment?
